The school holidays are nearly over and children around NZ are preparing to start a new year of learning. One of the things I used to enjoy about this time was buying new stationery – it was also a very stressful time for my parents! Below are some tips to help save time, money and stress when you go stationery shopping for your child.
Get the stationery list ahead of time: Once school starts back the stationery shops are always packed so it is best if you can get a stationery list ahead of time to avoid the rush. Most schools can give you a list before schools starts or some schools also post it on their website. This will give you time to source the best deals, save time and budget for it if required.
Shop with your child from home: The thought of going to the shops with your kids probably gets your heart racing. A great way to avoid this stressful experience is to sit with your kids in front of the computer and shop with them on Lasoo. You can add all of the items to your Lasoo shopping list; print it out and then head in store alone.
Check what subjects your child is taking: Talk to your children about what subjects that are taking to make sure that you are buying the correct stationery. You can both sit down and go through the list together and highlight the items needed. This will avoid buying unnecessary items.
Check what is left in their bag from last year and what is hiding around the house: Sometimes you can have old ring binders and pens lying around the house that the children can use for school. Most kids absolutely love new stationery items so you can you can treat them to a couple of new stationery items as well.
Book Covering: Your children’s books don’t have to be covered with the most expensive book covering. They can cut out pictures from magazines or photos and then stick them on the book and then you can cover them with clear duraseal. This will add a personal touch to your children’s books.

Literature has followed the digital revolution and books can now be downloaded through e-readers. The Kobo eReader Touch Edition is the companies third generation e-reader.
Once you start the eReader, the homepage shows the covers of up to give books, newspapers, documents or magazines that you are in the middle of reading or it will show new content added to the eReader. There are three icons for accessing the user guide, changing the setting and syncing to the Kobo library cloud.
It is well built and finished with a quilted back look. It weighs 185g, has a six inch screen and a 600×800 resolution. It is aesthetically pleasing, light and comfortable to hold. Buttons are at a minimum with a top power slider and a single home button. It can store about 1000 books but it also has a SD card slot that can handle up to another 32GB. It will easily fit into a jacket pocket or bag.
It’s the easiest e-reader that I have used. It is super intuitive and anyone could pick it up and use it without instructions. You simply tap the screen to open a book, turn a page or select a menu or option. When it comes to reading books, the screen has great contrast and the letters are crisp and well formed. You can change the size and font of the text to your preference.
Reading books on the eReader Touch is one of the best eBook experiences i’ve had. It is the best basic eReader available currently.
